E1027 Bibendum Chair in Context
This exploration builds on history of the Transat chair to situate another one of Eileen Gray’s pieces, the Bibendum chair, in a feminist context that celebrates design achievements by women.
Unfolded Drawing: After Truus Schröder
This unfolded drawing relates the form and rotating flexible surfaces of the Transat chair to the planar qualities of the De Stijl movement and takes cues from Truus Schröder-Schräder House in its representation.
Bibendum Chair Reframed: Appropriation of the LC2 Chair
This hybrid between the LC2 chair and Bibendum chair explores the relationship between objects designed for women and those designed for men. By appropriating the design of the LC2 chair and imagining how Gray would have designed the chair to be less angular, more playful, and more suited to the proportions of a woman’s body.
Serial Sections: LC2 to Bibendum
