Galioto’s Delicatessen

The first plant-based Italian delicatessen in New York, Galioto's Delicatessen, was converted from an empty store to a grab-and-go eatery. Informed by the personal and collective Italian-American history in New York and the influence of women in the kitchen, the space was designed to honor the original Italian eateries on Mulberry Street.

The space was intended to feel elevated and elegant, yet also thoughtful, cozy and inviting. This was achieved with careful placement of repurposed vintage pieces and furnishings throughout the open area as well as adaptive reuse of some of the building's original elements such as doors and columns.
